Cattle grows well under RP's coconut trees, says FAO study

Seared by volatile prices, Filipino coconut fanners are taking a hard look at the economies of pasturing cattle between trees. "In some coconut-livestock production systems, net return from cattle may exceed SO per cent of total income, possibly as high as 75 per cent, says the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). FAO's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific has just published what is probably the most comprehensive study to date on: Pasture-Cattle-Coconut Systems. FAO's Stephen Reynolds is main author of the 668-page study.
