Asian Farm animals slip into extinction

They might not be as sexy as whales or Pandas. But if countries of Asia and the Pacific are to double food production over the next two decades, they must act decisively to "save" a long list of domestic pigs, cows, horses, sheep, buffalo and even chicken from extinction. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAQ) has developed a global endangered species list. So far, it includes 28 species and almost 4,000 breeds of farm animals -- and 873 are classified as "at risk" FAO pin-points 97 of Asian and Pacific breeds known to be at high risk.
