Studies conducted in Japan (Minato, 1968) showed that the use of zeolite can effectively minimize the incidence of scouring in calves and piglets. No specific explanations were given for such an observation. However, it has been theorized that zeolite may have an adsorptive effect on pathogenic bacteria that are present in the gastrointestinal tract.
