Hopes for a late-spring surge in U.S. gasoline demand hit a speed bump Wednesday when the Energy Information Administration reported a sharp pullback in the week that ended April 28. The agency said U.S. gasoline demand a week earlier averaged 8.618 million b/d, down nearly 900,000 b/d week to week and leaving demand more than 150,000 b/d below the same week of last year and 2021.
