abstract_textpThe catalytic transfer hydrogenation of cinnamic acid over palladium supported on activated charcoal (Pd/AC) nanocatalyst is applied, instead of catalytic hydrogenation, to prepare hydrocinnamic acid (HCA) because this reaction is simple and safe. Fabrication of the nanocatalyst and its optimization are done in this work to construct a new model which shows effective parameters and their influences on the catalytic activity. Moreover, activation enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy are investigated in the mentioned reaction. For this purpose, Pd/AC is fabricated using the precipitation-reduction method. The fabrication parameters of this method are optimized to increase its activity by up to 44.4 in the reaction. Eight effective variables on the activity of nanocatalyst are determined. This reaction over Pd/AC can provide HCA with high purity (99.1 ) and yield (98.6 ). Different analyses are used to characterize optimal nanocatalyst.
