The February import total was 68,510 tons which was 15 above the license number from last month. March licenses are flat at 69,546 tons. April licenses, with 12 of 21 days tallied, are 59,671 tons suggesting a drop in activity. Our feelings are that the final number will come in higher. The top import item for February 2022 for mechanical tube was welded, carbon, square or rect., wall less than 0.156" with 19,707 tons. The price was $1,726/ton which was down $135/ton from the previous month and down $235/ton for the 3 month period. Volume for this item has been very consistent over the last 4 months.
