In this image, the LSST astonomical camera's shutter can be seen being attached to its body by a highly trained team in the California cleanroom. Back in 2015, construction began on the new 3.2-gigapixel prime focus digital astronomical camera, funded by the US DOE and managed by SLAC and NOIRIab. The then new cleanroom saw the beginning of the project and throughout this year the parts have been coming together. The new camera will take 15-second exposure pictures every 20 seconds from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory currently under construction in Chile, and will require very precise focusing due to the rapid repointing.
