24 million km of testing for Mercedes C-Class

Between the summer of 2003 and late 2006, the test program for the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class covered 24,000,000 km (15,000,000 mi) - equivalent to circumnavigating the equator 600 times. From its digital concept development phase to production, the C-Class was involved in the most comprehensive testing program in the company's history. Claimed to be the world's first production vehicle to be designed and developed based on a digital prototype, computer simulation was used to develop and test the crash-safety and occupant-protection systems together with NVH, durability, energy management, climate control, and aerodynamics.
