Acadia is GMC's first crossover

The rules of engagement for engineers and others working on the new 2007 GMC Acadia were aimed squarely on making the brand's first foray into one of the U.S. market's most popular vehicle segments a success. "The goal was to strike a balance between size, capability, and professional-grade design," said Anna Kretz, Acadia Vehicle Line Executive. The Acadia crossover, built off the same platform as the 2007 Saturn Outlook and 2008 Buick Enclave, uses a four-wheel independent suspension mounted to a rigid structure to achieve a lower center of gravity.
