摘要

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) appears to be leaning toward requiring vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, a technology that could provide a wealth of data for autonomous driving/Though its impact will be slight early in its rollout, it will grow as more vehicles are able to talk to each other. NHTSA plans to deliver a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking by 2016. The agency noted that preliminary estimates for two safety applications, left turn assist and intersection movement assist, could save 1083 lives per year. Product developers feel it can be an important tool for autonomous driving.
