Among the most challenging tasks in de-veloping a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle is validating the durability and NVH performance of the driveline. Performing this task under the full range of operating speeds, while also taking manufacturing variation into account, makes it even more difficult. Yet today, physical testing cannot occur until prototypes become available late in the design and development process, making desigachanges costly and time-consuming.
