Cavan Bus Station is a single-storey red-bricked building at the southern end of Farnham Street and replaced a two storey structure on the same site in 1987. Nowadays Leap Card can be used on all BE services, but this county town lacks an agent. Along with another passenger I board the coach at the front of the station. The lady driver greets us. I tender my Leap Card and €9.50 is deducted; curiously the online BE Fare Finder returns a fare of €6.65 for this journey. We proceed along Farnham Street passing Johnston Central Library outside which stands a statue of the 7th Baron Farnham, Henry Maxwell. Along with his wife, Anna, he sadly perished in the Abergele rail disaster in 1868.
