Indian coal producers raised supplies to cement makers in August compared with a year and a month earlier. Cement plants use thermal coal along with petroleum coke as fuel. Cement makers received 740,000t of coal from domestic producers such as Coal India (CIL) and Singareni Collieries (SCCL) in August, up by 27pc from the year earlier. Supplies were also higher on the month, compared with 700,000t in July. Higher supplies help cement plants increase the share of coal in their fuel mix.
