With the auto finance market on the upswing, many finance companies are expanding into new segments, adding territories and beefing up F&I product menus. Ally Financial, formerly GMAC, is the biggest example. Ally, already a major auto finance player, wants more leases, more sub-prime and used-car loans and more business with franchises other than those of General Motors and Chrysler Group.
