摘要

New federal guidelines to battle distracted driving will put even more pressure on car companies to pack voice-activated features into their vehicles, experts say. The guidelines released last week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say drivers should need to look away from the road for no more than two seconds at a time, or 12 seconds total, to use entertainment and communication features. To comply, automakers would need to disable the buttons that control many navigation, entertainment and phone features when a vehicle is moving.
