Introduction of a tropine-based dication ionic liquid catalyst for the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline and 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridine derivatives

In this work, 1,1-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(tropinium)chloride is prepared, identified and used for the promotion of the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline and 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridine derivatives. The synthesized dicationic ionic liquid catalyst was characterized using FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, Mass, FESEM and EDS analysis methods. Short reaction times, excellent yields, ease of preparation and work-up and recyclability of the catalyst are the considerable advantages of the presented method.
