Mexico will buy the power assets of Iberdrola of Spain for about$6 billion, increasing the share of the generation capacity in thecountry in the hands of the state utility CFE.Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announcedon April 4 that the country will be buying 12 gas-fired co-generationplants and one wind farm from Iberdrola for $5.943 billion.With the acquisition, CFE will increase its share of the totalgeneration capacity in the country from 39.6 to 55.5, which willguarantee the availability of power in the country to meet presentand future demand, Lopez Obrador said in a video message.
