The European council has proposed adding aluminium to the EU’s list of strategic raw materials, supply of which would be ensured under the critical raw materials act (CRMA) that was proposed earlier this year. Many industry voices have been calling for the addition of aluminium to the list since the CRMA was proposed by the EU in March. European technology industries association Orgalim was the latest addition to the chorus on 22 June.
