Effect of pre and post emergence herbicides on growth of summer urdbean and associated weeds

An investigation was carried out at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu during 2015, to study the effect of pre and post emergence application of herbicides on crop growth and weed dynamics in urdbean. Application of treatment T_(10) (Imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) @1000 g/ha as pre-emergence) significantly increased the growth parameters i.e. plant height and dry matter accumulation which was however statistically at par with treatment T_8 (Imazethapyr + imazamox (RM) @ 80 g/ha at 3-4 leaf stage), T_4 (Imazethapyr @ 80 g/ha at 3-4 leaf stage), T_7 (Imazethapyr + imazamox (RM) @ 70 g/ha at 3-4 leaf stage) and T_3 (Imazethapyr @ 70 g/ha at 3-4 leaf stage) and also significantly reduced the weed density and biomass of weeds and increased the weed control efficiency over weedy check.
