A NEW pan-European medium altitude long-endurance (MALE) remotely piloted air system (RPAS) has moved closer after the fourth and final partner nation confirmed its development funding. Airbus Defence and Space CEO Michael Schoellhorn shared on Twitter: "Budgetary approval by the Spanish Council of Ministers, which follows that of Germany, France and Italy, paves the way for contract signature on this key collaborative programme, which strengthens Europe's strategic autonomy and sovereignty."A development contract is now likely to be issued by the Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation (OCCAR), the contracting authority, to develop the Eurodrone system (also dubbed EuroMALE).
