Over the 30 or more years that we have been producing Parking Review, regular readers may have thought that the magazine could sometimes be titled 'Car-Free News'. While we aim to showcase the latest in developments in the design, enforcement and management of parking, there has always been a strand of stories about how parking policy can be used to reduce car use via measures including park ride, permits and charges, as well as the ultimate remedy of removing spaces altogether. Indeed, we have long been a champion of making better use of the kerbside, celebrating the creation of parklets. We also regularly explore the redevelopment and re-purposing of car parks for conversion into more socially beneficial uses such as housing.
