Audi gets game-quality graphics: Nvidia chips animate navigation screens

A company whose computer chips generate the sophisticated, realistic images in many video games has brought the same technology to the car. Nvidia Corp., of Santa Clara, Calif., and Audi AG have developed a navigation system that displays Google Earth images. The companies say it is a first for the industry. Nvidia and Audi demonstrated the technology on an Audi Q7 crossover last month at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The navigation system uses Tegra, a chip developed for mobile devices, to render images so realistic that it's almost like driving through a photograph of the neighborhood.
