The Chinese capital has laid out a number of proposals to be implemented this year to combat smog, including (1) increasing the number of new energy vehicles (NEVs) on its roads, (2) reducing the number of diesel-fueled trucks, (3) tightening its supervision of at least 1.5MM heavy-duty diesel vehicles, (4) reducing the content of aromatics, olefins, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in diesel and gasoline, and (5) reducing emissions from the local PC industry by 30 from 2017 levels the Beijing Municipality government said on Feb. 13. Beijing is aiming to increase the number of NEVs on its roads from 225K at the end of 2018 to 400K by the end of this year. Beijing also plans to use NEVs for all its postal, intra-city delivery, environmental sanitation departments, and its airport and public bus systems
