In this paper, the fracture toughness of the Ti2AlNb/Ti6Al4V layered metal composite(LMC) prepared by vacuum hot pressing was tested, and the fracture mechanism was investigated by in-situ fracture mechanics process. The results show that the KIC value of the composite is 70 MPa BULL;m1/2, which is more than twice higher than the fracture toughness of Ti2AlNb alloy. The layered structure, the tough Ti6Al4V layer, and the interface layer caused complex crack propagation, which played an important role in improving the fracture toughness of the composite.
