American Electric Power Co. Inc. plans to invest $40 billion between 2023 and 2027 in transmission, distribution and renewable energy and has accelerated its emission reduction targets and net-zero goals, the company announced Oct. 4. American Electric Power, or AEP, plans to allocate $26 billion to transmission and distribution operations and $9 billion in regulated renewable generation, according to a news release issued ahead of a planned investor presentation by the Columbus, Ohio,-headquartered utility holding company.
