In the electrical power system, a few transmissionlines play a crucial role in cascading failurespropagation. Once it participates in the cascading failurespropagation process, catastrophic power blackouts willinevitably occur. In this paper, the Electrical TransmissionLine-Stochastic Approach for Link StructureAnalysis method (ETL-SALSAmethod) is proposed,whichcombines the Internet thinking with the physical characteristicsof power system. At the same time, importanttransmission lines are screened to prevent cascadingfailures of the power system. Additionally, consideringthe influence of hidden failures, the expanded adjacentmatrix concept is proposed. Based on the expandedadjacent matrix, fault propagation relationship andtopology structure are also taken into account in theETL-SALSA method. In the calculation process ofETL-SALSA method, Markov probability transfer matrixof the Stochastic Approach for Link Structure Analysisalgorithm (SALSA algorithm) of random method isadopted, so as to achieve higher computational efficiency.Simulations carried out on the IEEE 39-buselectrical power system and the IEEE 118-bus electricalpower system show that the ETL-SALSA method canachieve high-accuracy to screen important transmissionlines compared with graph theory method and cascadingfailure simulation method. Moreover, the screeningspeed of the ETL-SALSA method can be enhanced forseveral orders of magnitude compared with cascadingfailure simulation method.
