Novelis drives decarbonization at Sierre plant in Switzerland: Novelis and its partners at the RD laboratory Net Zero Lab Valais have successfully completed the first year of operations. Key energy projects aimed at enabling Scope 1 2 carbon-neutral production at the Sierre plant have been launched. The company has approved an investment in a new electrical pusher furnace, which will allow the plant to pre-heat sheet ingots with renewable electricity instead of natural gas, saving 4,500 tpy of CO_2 and up to 180,000 tpy of CO_2 over the furnace's lifetime.
