Ford F-150 to get powertrain improvements: 3.5-liter turbo, 10-speed automatic are planned

DETROIT - After switching to an aluminum body for the 2015 model year, the redesigned Ford F-150 will get its first major powertrain improvement starting this fall with two 2017 models. A new 10-speed automatic transmission and a redesigned 3.5-liter twin turbo Eco-Boost V-6 will be available in the off-road high-performance Raptor and regular F-150.
