摘要

A brief description of Cryptosporidium parvum is given, and the symptoms, route of transmission, and treatment of cryptosporidiosis are discussed. Other topics covered include the prevalence and location of cryptosporidiosis outbreaks, the life cycle of C. parvum, the resistance of oocysts to disinfectants, control of water- and food-borne transmission, and C. parvum detection in water and food.
