The Japanese electrical engineering and software company has opened its Open Process Automation (OPA) Test Bed Collaboration Center near Houston, TX (US). Yokogawa Electric Corp. states this new technology center will "support disruptive innovation in process automation" by using the Test Bed to evaluate process automation components and standards. Based on this evaluation, the OPA Test Bed Collaboration Center will recommend process automation components and standards for industrial field trials. ExxonMobil Corp., a member of the OPA Forum along with Yokogawa, will work with Yokogawa at the center. Yokogawa is currently working on stages one and two of the Test Bed, with XOM and other OPA Forum members set to work on the third stage.
