Supply chain was a growing field before the pandemic that has since been put into overdrive and is now top of mind across the globe. The many functions of supply chain have always existed, but the modern approach of integrating them under a single umbrella has added greater value for businesses. There is not a perfect supply chain plan or design that works for every business, as each business is unique. Common to all businesses, however, should be a goal to design their supply chain anticipating that disruptions will happen, and to have an optimal system in place prepared for such times.
