Highly efficient Fishhook Groove design (1) with a Slide On Lock Energy-absorber (3) mechanism which helps in achieving favorable results in pillar trims where traditional countermeasures like mold in ribs, honeycomb structures does not perform as per requirements resulting in surface and tooling changes. The proposed design enables to freeze the surface of the pillar trim early and provides flexibility of energy absorption solutions in the B surface during development. The A surface change is complex because of its contribution towards visibility and design theme criteria. The tooling needs to be changed only for the smaller EA portion not for the entire pillar trim.
