Dow Q2 net income nearly triples on Dow Corning ownership shift

LONDON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical's second-quarter net income nearly tripled year on year to $3.12bn on the back of a $2bn-plus uplift from the restructuring of silicones maker Dow Corning, the US-based chemicals producer said on Thursday. Formerly run as a 50/50 joint venture with Corning Inc, Dow announced its intention late last year to take full ownership of the company in the run-up to the planned merger with DuPont.
