Leverkusen, Germany Covestro has introduced polyether polyols made using 'biocircular' feedstock, their renewability calculated using the mass-balance approach. This follows the company's introduction of renewable TDI and climate-neutral MDI, with climate neutrality based on a cradle-to-gate assessment reviewed by TON/ Rheinland. Covestro said by using these polyols along with renewable and climate-neutral isocyanates, customers can make PU foams entirely from alternative raw materials. The polyols are produced with renewable precursors such as biowaste. These are allocated to the products using a mass-balance calculation.
