US Cargill acquires South Carolina beef plant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US agribusiness titan Cargill announced on Friday that it hasacquired the FPL Food, LLC ground beef processing plant in Columbia, South Carolinawhich will enhance the company’s ability to serve eastern retail and foodservicecustomers.While terms of the purchase were not disclosed, officials did say the plantencompasses 100,000 square feet (9290 square metres) and employs more than 200people. It is the firm’s belief that the acquisition complements Cargill’s meatprocessing facilities in Georgia and Pennsylvania.
