The US Interior Department issued a wide-ranging proposal Friday for offshore leasing in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) for 2023- 28, soliciting comment on scenarios from holding zero lease sales to holding 11 total. The long-awaited proposal comes after the current lease plan, which ran from 2017-22, expired Jun. 30, although the Interior Department had already cancelled all remaining US Gulf of Mexico (GOM) auctions and one in Alaska’s Cook Inlet.
