The Department of Transportation has extended aregional fuel emergency affecting eight states, whichtemporarily exempts maximum operating time for tankertruck drivers due to an outage at Suncor Energy Inc.'s111,700 b/d refinery near Denver.The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, anagency within the DOT that oversees commercial vehicles,announced the regional emergency declaration datedMarch 16, marking the second such extension since itsoriginal announcement Jan. 16. The declaration coversColorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma,Texas, Utah and Wyoming.
