US industrial, manufacturing output fall in March

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US industrial production fell 0.6% in March, marking a second monthly decline in a row, the US Federal Reserve said in a report on Friday. Economists polled by a media group had expected an 0.1% decline. March’s decline was due to falling output in manufacturing, as well as in mining. However, chemicals production rose slightly, the Fed said in its monthly report. In manufacturing, March output fell 0.3%, led by declines in motor vehicles and parts and electrical equipment, appliances and components.
