India's RIL Q1 net profit grows 18.1% on strong petchem ops

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Reliance Industries Ltd's first-quarter net profit rose by 18.1% year on year to Indian rupee (Rs) 71.1bn ($1.1bn), buoyed by strong earnings from its petrochemical segment, the Indian producer said. The company's turnover in the quarter ending 30 June 2016 fell by 13.4% to Rs714.5bn, while operating profit before other income and depreciation increased 12.7% to Rs112.2bn, the company said in a statement issued late on 15 July.
