Redefinitions of Tennantite and Tetrahedrite Groups

The recent nomenclature changes to the tennantite/ tetrahedrite group of minerals have finally been published in American Mineralogist (Volume 105, pages 109-122). Presented to the IMA as Proposal 18-K, the nomenclature changes were approved in April of last year. In the on-going battle between "lumpers" and "splitters", this is definitely a victory for the latter group, as a large number of both existing mineral name changes and potential new mineral names were defined.
