Chevron and Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. (Modeco) plan to move forward with a pilot project to test advanced geothermal powertechnology in Japan in the hope that it may eventually be commercialized and deployed at scale. The pair said on Thursday that they will develop the project to test advanced closed loop (ACL) technology at a site in the Nisekoregion of Hokkaido. They had previously announced that they planned to jointly explore the potential of ACL technology.
