The March 2022 import total, at 52,816 tons, was 10 below the license number from last month. April licenses are down substantially to 38,649 tons. The May forecast, with 11 of 22 days included, is in the normal range for this product sector showing 41,567 tons. The top import item for March 2022 was welded, carbon, square or rect., with wall over 0.156" at 47,751 tons, virtually all the volume in the sector. The price was $1,553/ton, which is down $211/ton for the month, $331/ton for the 4 month period. This price move is surprising as is the high volume.
