US homebuilder confidence rises 2 points in June

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Builder confidence in the market for new single-family homes rose two points, reaching its highest level since January by registering a 60 on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI), the group announced on Thursday. On the 1-100 HMI scale, a reading of 50 or above indicates that home builders are confident about their prospects over the next six months. The HMI hit 61 in January and held steady at 58 February through May this year.
