In order to appraise the soil fertility status for sustainable production a field survey was undertaken during the year 2017-18 in various tehsils of Rupnagar district, Punjab. A GPS based 100 surface (0-15 cm) soil samples were collected and analysedfor pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon (OC), available nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), DTPA-Zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) and nutrient indices were calculated. The pH and EC of surface soil sample variedfrom 6.75 - 8.31 and 0.28 - 0.89 dSm~(-1), respectively, The soil OC content varied from 2.70- 8.00 g kg~(-1) with the mean of 5.50 g kg~(-1). CaCO3 content varied from 1.21 to 4.05 with mean value of 2.37. Mean values for N, P and K as obtained fromthe analysis were 275, 14.9, 279 kg ha~(-1), respectively. The mean values for DTP A- Cu, Mn, Fe and Zn were 0.74, 3.97, 5.23 and 0.71 mg kg~(-1), respectively. Available N, P and DTPA-Zn of the study area were rated to be low status as per the Parker'snutrient index. Therefore, supplementation of these deficient nutrients through external organic and inorganic sources could improve crop productivity and soil health of Rupnagar district of Punjab.
