DuPont raises full-year outlook as Q1 profits rise

LONDON (ICIS)--DuPont has upgraded its earnings outlook for 2016 as first-quarter net income rose year on year, with the impact of currency headwinds and taxes likely to be lower than expected, the US-headquartered chemicals producer said late on Monday. First-quarter net income rose 19% year on year to $1.23bn, despite a 5% decrease in total segment operating earnings over the same period to $1.72bn, on the back of an improved performance for industrial biosciences, health and nutrition and protection solutions, as well as lower costs.
