SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) rose to 50.1 in May from 50.0 in April, as monthly production increased for the first time this year, based on a joint survey conducted by financial services provider Markit and Japanese media group Nikkei. PMI is a barometer of an economy’s manufacturing activities, whereby any reading of 50 and below indicates a contraction in sector operating conditions.
