A crew from from Dos Palos Well Drilling prepares to head back to the shop after a long day of drilling a domestic well just a few miles from its facility. The well was drilled 150 feet with a 978-inch borehole and cased 140 feet with 5-inch PVC. The filter pack extends from below the casing and up to 100 feet below grade. The remaining annulus is sealed through a tremie pipe with high-solids bentonite grout to the surface. All of the work was completed by a single crew in a day that started at 6 a.m. The crew worked hard as the weather forecast called for rain two days later. The Dos Palos region used to be swampland and the top soil is hard black clay that turns to mud when hydrated, meaning vehicles still on the jobsite would have certainly been stuck.
