IT WAS a roller-coaster ride for the Saudi stock market in 2006 In February last year,the kingdom's primary market,the Tadawul All Share Index(TASI),suffered a three month crash that ended in May By December,the exchange closed at 7,933 pointsIt was a staggering 60% drop from an all-time high of 20,000 points m February 2006 causing the exchanges market capitalization to be slashed by half to around 320bn It also dragged down other markets in the region m Oman,Kuwait,Bahrain and Dubai,which look to the TASI as the barometer investor enthusiasm,or lack of it.
