Rebecca Ramsey lost her 13-year-old son, Dylan, after he went swimming in a quarry in 2011. Since then, her Doing It For Dylan campaign has worked with the National Water Safety Forum to help prevent other families from experiencing a similar life-altering loss. From 2009 to 2020, there were nearly 6,000 water-related fatalities in the UK. In 2020, 30 people under the age of 20 were among that number. Rebecca set up a Government petition on increasing water safety content in the national curriculum in England, that gained more than 108,000 signatures, and which was debated in Parliament in July 2021.
