FOUR new US and European hubs have joined the Transitioning Industrial Clusters Toward Net Zero initiative. The initiative, launched at COP26 last November and led by the World Economic Forum, Accenture and the Electric Power Research Institute, aims to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors across industries and clusters. The Brightlands Circular Space in the Netherlands; the H2Hou-ston Hub coalition of more than 100 organisations; the Ohio Clean Hydrogen Hub Alliance of about 100 members; and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges are the latest additions to the initiative. More than a dozen other organisations are in the process of joining. These additions involve oil and gas extraction and processing, shipping, heavy-duty transport, chemicals and other sectors, and account for more than 296 million tonnes per annum of carbon dioxide emissions.
